Derby week
www.fcbarcelona.cat
After two days off, this coming Tuesday evening the first team will be back at work. Guardiola’s men will start getting ready for their derby with city rivals Espanyol and the raft of games they have over the coming month.
This Saturday Barça will play against Espanyol in the first of seven fixtures programmed for the
following three weeks. After the derby clash the Catalans will be back in Champions League action
against Olympique Lyon on Tuesday 24 February.
Atlético Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Almeria, in the League, plus return legs against Majorca
in the King’s Cup and Olympique Lyon in the Champions League are the other dishes on the
Barça menu over the following 21 days.
Rest and back to work
Aware that his players will have little time off over forthcoming weeks,
Josep Guardiola decided after the Betis game to give the squad a two-day break. The players will be
back training this Tuesday at 6 pm at the Ciudad Deportiva.
Morning sessions
After that and until Friday training will be held in the morning at Ciudad Deportiva Joan
Gamper. Save for Wednesday, when training begins at noon, the sessions will start at 11 am.
Saturday training
As is now the rule this season, Josep Guardiola has
scheduled the squad’s last session for the day of the game. Training will begin on Saturday
at noon at Camp Nou.
Non-stop
Once the derby is over, the side will then turn to the Champions League encounter with
Olympique Lyon on Tuesday. There will be training on Sunday at Ciudad Deportiva at 11.30 am to be
followed by another session first thing on Monday before the team leaves for Lyon.
Once in France, the squad will train at the venue for the match, Stade de Gerland, on Monday
at 7.30 pm.
