The Appeals Committee has rejected Barça’s request for Keita’s red card to be withdrawn. The case will now be presented to the Spanish Committee for Sports Discipline (CEDD).
Over the next few hours, the FC Barcelona legal department will be presenting an appeal to the
Comité Español de Disciplina Deportiva (CEDD) in opposition to the resolution issued by the Appeals
Committee on Thursday, in which they rejected the proposal for Keita’s red card received
against Espanyol on Saturday to be withdrawn. The card means a one-match suspension for the player,
but the club will be requesting for the suspension to be delayed if no resolution is issued by the
CEDD.
On Thursday, the Appeal Committee (Comité de Apelación de la Federación Española de Fútbol)
rejected FC Barcelona’s appeal against the suspension that Seydou Keita has been given by the
Competition Committee (Comité de Competición).
The Committee has announced that the player will be banned for one match in accordance with
the resolution dictated on February 24, and that the player will also receive a fine. Therefore,
the player has been told he will not be able to take any part in Sunday’s game at Atlético
Madrid, unless the CEDD decides otherwise.
