Abidal trains on the pitch again
www.fcbarcelona.cat
The French player has trained on a grass surface for the first time since he was injured against Espanyol. This took place on one of the pitches at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper under the watchful eye of one of the team’s coaches.
For the first time since he was injured three weeks ago against Espanyol, Éric Abidal has put his
playing boots back on and trained on one of the pitches at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Though
he’s still not back to match fitness and will supposedly be out for eight weeks, the fact
that he’s back training on the pitch is a good sign.
Injured against Espanyol
Éric Abidal got injured in the 22nd minute of the first half
of the Barcelona derby between Barça and Espanyol on February 21st. After a nasty clash with Sergio
Sánchez, Abidal himself asked to be substituted, and with a ruptured adductor muscle on his right
leg, the initial analysis said he would be out for about eight weeks.
Morning session
The first team also trained on Saturday morning at 11:00
behind closed doors at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Josep Guardiola only had 19 players
available, with Milito, Abidal, Puyol and Jorquera injured and Pedro called up for Barça Atlètic.
So he’ll only have to cross off one player from the list of 18 travelling to Almeria.
