Valdés back in lead to concede fewest

Barça’s keeper is back in top spot in the race to concede fewest goals in the First Division. He’s let in 24 in 27 matches, one fewer than Seville’s Palop.

Víctor Valdés racked up another clean sheet at the Juegos Mediterráneos stadium this Sunday and got back into first place in the race for the Zamora Trophy which goes to the keeper who concedes fewest goals in the First Division. Barça’s custodian hasn’t let in a goal for two games and tops the list with 24 conceded in 27 games (0.89 on average). Seville’s 2-2 draw at Malaga means that Andrés Palop is in second place with 25 in 26 (0.96).

Valdés had been ahead until Barça lost 4-3 away at Atlético Madrid on matchday 25.

10 clean sheets

The Almeria clash was Valdés’s tenth clean sheet in the League this season. He’s the only Barça player to have played in every single minute of the competition. Barça have let in fewest goals at 24, though Seville on 25 are pushing them close.

Won in 2005

Valdés won the Zamora Trophy in the 2004/05 season, when he let in only 25 goals in 35 matches.
