Guardiola opens training to the press
Jesús Carrillo
For the first time since the move to the new sports complex, the Barça coach allowed the press to watch the entire training session. Guardiola had 21 players to work with while the injured players - Puyol, Abidal and Milito – trained separately.
This season, Pep Guardiola has allowed the press to watch the entire training session on just a
limited number of occasions, including today.
21 players in the main group
The session started at 11 am at the Joan Gamper sports
complex. Carles Puyol worked with a recovery coach from 10 am while Abidal spent a few minutes on
the training ground. Milito, meanwhile, followed his own recovery programme in the gym.
The training session
First of all, the players warmed up and did some stretching
exercises. These were followed by strength and stamina circuits for the outfield players while the
goalkeepers worked separately with Juan Carlos Unzué.
From fitness to ball skills
The fitness workout continued but was gradually supplemented by work with the football. The
three goalkeepers lined up to provide a target for some shooting practice. The session ended with a
series of seven-a-side matches on a reduced size pitch.
