Van Bommel: "Barça are playing at a very high level"

FC Barcelona will play Bayern Munich in the quarter finals of the Champions League and that will give Mark van Bommel the chance to face his former club for the first time since leaving Camp Nou.
The Dutch international midfielder had an intense, but unique campaign with the Blaugrana in
2005-06 and was part of one of the most successful teams in recent seasons as he helped the club to
win the domestic title and then to lift the European Cup for the second time ever when they beat
Arsenal in the Champions League final in Paris. Now he will be on the other team.
A complicated tie
Playing his third season in the Bundesliga with Bayern, Van Bommel
looked at the draw exclusively for www.fcbarcelona.cat and stated that "it is complicated because
Barcelona are a very difficult team to play". In that sense, he revealed that he has been following
the team this term and believes that "they are playing at the highest level". "I think that Pep
Guardiola has managed to produce a team that is playing extremely well. It reminds me of the level
that we reached when we won the Champions League."
"Barça are one of the favourites"
FC Barcelona will play the second leg away from home and Van Bommel thinks that will have an
effect. "It is important that we are playing the second leg in Munich," he continued. "The year
that I won it with Barcelona, all our ties had the second leg at Camp Nou as we played Benfica,
Chelsea and Milan at home and it helped us. But the Blaugrana are one of the favourites to win the
Champions League this year with the way that they have been playing."
