Eto'o racks up the goals

With his two strikes against Malaga, Samuel Eto'o has not only gone further out in front at the top of the goal scorer table in Spain but is also leader in the Golden Ball and in fifth spot in the list of all-time Barça goal scorers.

Barça’s Cameroon striker notched another two goals this Sunday at home against Malaga after four games with no luck.

Top goal scorer

In the League Eto’o has scored 25 goals, which makes him top scorer for his club and in the League as a whole. He’s followed on 19 by teammate Lionel Messi, Valencia’s David Villa and Atlético Madrid’s Diego Forlán.

Leads Golden Ball

Samuel Eto'o is also top scorer in Europe with his two strikes against Malaga pushing him to the front of the battle for the Golden Boot, awarded to Europe’s top goal scorer each season.

50 points for Eto'o

In this table, goals in Spain are multiplied by two so Eto’o’s 25 goals are worth 50 points. His brace this Sunday took him ahead of Marc Janko, who has 33 with Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian League, though as the competition is seen as being at a lower level they only count for 1.5 points each to give the Austrian a total of 49.5 points.

Climbing the Barça goal scorers’ table

Eto'o’s two strikes on Sunday make it 123 for him in a Barça shirt, putting him ahead of Carles Rexach and Patrick Kluivert on 122 in the all-time goal scorers’ list for FC Barcelona. The Cameroon striker is now in fifth spot just one goal behind Mariano Martín in fourth. César (235), Kubala (196) and Rivaldo (130) are in the top three places.
