Chelsea silence Anfield (1-3)

The all-Premier League clash was evenly balanced in the first half but Chelsea dominated after the break. Ivanovic (2) and Drogba put Chelsea back on top after Torres had opened the scoring for Liverpool.
Both teams attacked from the start and the chances flowed at both ends. Despite the early goal from
Torres, Chelsea kept their cool and fought back to equalise and then take the lead. The final score
of 1-3 leaves Hiddink’s team in a strong position ahead of the second leg.
All square at halftime
Liverpool made a great start with Spanish striker Fernando Torres scoring after just six
minutes. However, Chelsea retained their composure and Ivanovic equalised just before half time
from a corner kick.
Chelsea stronger
Chelsea began the second half with plenty of power and it was no surprise when Ivanovic once
again took advantage of a corner kick to head Chelsea’s second (min 62). Drogba got the third
in the 67th minute to clinch the match and, perhaps, the tie.
