Guardiola: “It’s a good result but we’ll go there with humility”

Anna Segura

The victory against Bayern made it clear to all that Barça produced an almost perfect performance. According to Guardiola, this is thanks to “the solidarity and hard work of all the players”.

Bayern Munich head coach Jürgen Klinsmann admitted after the match that the tie is already over and that his players had just been beaten by the next champion of Europe. However, despite this praise, Guardiola remains cautious. He knows that the German team is still a force to be reckoned with and insists that Barça have to stay focused to finish the job in the second leg next Tuesday”.

Keeping the fans happy

Although there is no silverware on show as yet, Barça’s electrifying performances are delighting the fans: “We can’t deny that people are lucky enough to watch us and they are enjoying themselves [but] we’re here to win a trophy”.

Teamwork

Also, Guardiola revealed that it was vital to “move the ball around a lot to prevent counterattacks”.

Focused on Saturday

It’s now time to focus on Saturday’s league match in the Camp Nou against Recreativo de Huelva. Guardiola believes “Recreativo is a tough team that never eases up” but he confirmed that Barça would go for all three points”.

The dismissal
Guardiola was sent off the bench with the scoreboard at 2-0 after complaining about the referee’s failure to award his team a penalty committed on Messi and, to make matters worse, for booking the Argentine for diving: “I’m not very happy with myself. I mustn’t behave like that but I couldn’t help myself. It was a penalty and the referee should have given it”.
