Valdés breaks his personal clean sheet record
Roger Bogunyà
The Recreativo game has been a special one for Víctor Valdés. Barça’s keeper kept a clean sheet for the fifth League game in a row to set a new individual record.
Victor Valdés has been unbeaten in Barça’s last five League games. It’s now 453 minutes
since he last let in a goal, the fourth at Vicente Calderón, and it’s a new record for him.
Athletic Bilbao, Almeria, Malaga, Valladolid and Recreativo are the sides that have been unable to
find a way past him.
Previous record was 419 minutes
Valdés’s previous best was in the 2004/05 season. Then he went
unbeaten for 419 minutes from 26 February 2005, when Numancia scored against him, to the game with
Betis on 3 April. That season the Barça keeper won the Zamora Trophy for least goals conceded after
letting in just 25 in 37 games.
Miguel Reina still holds club record
However, he’s still some way off the club record held by Miguel Reina, who kept a clean
sheet for 824 minutes in the 1972/73 season.
