If Pep Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea then the European final appearance will make it 62 games.

Sevilla and Valencia: 52 games

There is a stark difference between Barça’s season and other teams with Sevilla playing no more tHan 52 matches this term, the same as Valencia. Both teams progressed in the Copa del Rey, but were both knocked out of the UEFA Cup in earlier rounds.

More games than anyone else
Previous seasons
FC Barcelona played 58 matches last season when reaching the Champions League semi final, while in 2005-06 they played 61 games when they won the league and in Europe.

Beating this season’s record though was the 1998-99 team that played 63 matches when the Champions League involved two group stages. The last time that Barça played every game possible in one season was in 1996-97 when Sir Bobby Robson’s team reached the finals of the Copa del Rey and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
