Winning in Getafe points to the title
Anna Segura
The Coliseum Alfonso Pérez has not been an easy place for FC Barcelona to take anything from as they have only secured two victories in their last four visits to Getafe’s home.
Pep Guardiola’s side face a tough task on Saturday in the Madrid suburb as the visitors look
to cement their place at the top of the table. In the last two seasons, travelling to play Los
Azulones has not been a comfortable experience for the Blaugrana, however.
Two wins
A win this weekend at Getafe would break the run of defeats that Barça have suffered as they
have been beaten in the Coliseum for the past two seasons. Not since a 1-3 win in 2005-06, thanks
to goals from Samuel Eto’o. Ludovic Giuly and Thiago Motta, have the Catalan outfit won
there.
In Getafe’s first year in the top flight in 2004-05, Frank Rijkaard’s team came
away with a 1-2 victory thanks to goals from Rafael Márquez and Deco.
Winning the title
Triumphing this Saturday would give Barcelona’s title hopes a huge boost and
would be a good omen as the only two times they have won there they have gone on to become
champions.
A though task
Garnering all three points will not be easy though as Barcelona have not won not heir last
two visits to Getafe, having drawn 1-1 in 2006-07 before being beaten 2-0 there last season. The
Coliseum has been a difficult place for any side to go this term as Real Madrid found when they
lost 3-1 earlier in the campaign.
