Record of 26 wins in a 38-match league season
www.fcbarcelona.cat
The 4-0 win against Sevilla was the 26th league victory so far this season setting a Club record for a 38-match league season. In the 1996/97 season, Barça won 28 games in a 42-match season.
Josep Guardiola’s Barça team looks set to break quite a few records. The latest one to fall
is the number of victories in a 38-match season. Although there are still 6 games to go, the 4-0
win against Sevilla on Wednesday evening outstrips the 25 wins achieved in the 1990/91, 1992/93,
1993/94, 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons. In each case, Barça went on to win the championship.
Record held by Robson
The all-time Barça record for the most league victories in one season – 28 in 42 games
- is currently held by veteran English coach Sir Bobby Robson in 1996/97. Real Madrid also won 28
matches in 1987/88.
More goals than the Dream Team
In addition, the current Barça squad has smashed the goal
scoring records held by the Dream Team. In the 1993/94 season, Johan Cruyff’s team scored 91
league goals while the current team has already scored 92. This makes them the third highest
scorers in the history of the Club behind the 1996/97 team (102) and the 1958/59 team (96).
