Rafael Yuste believes that FC Barcelona's win against Real Madrid in the Bernabéu was an "historic moment for the club" and believes that trophies will follow despite wanting to remain cautious as he explained "the time will come for that".
The sporting vice-president of the club was delighted with the 2-6 victory win and spoke to Barça
TV about his emotions after such a memorable performance from the team. "It is a dream come true,"
he explained. "Many people were touched by that result because it was an historic moment for the
club."
Important step
"On Saturday we took an important step towards winning the league and to allow us to continue
pushing ahead with a very important project for the club's future." Yuste did not want to predict
when the title could be secured as he continued: "I believe in remaining confident and have faith
because I believe that we will win the league. I would like to win it as soon as possible and if it
can be at home then even better, but I do not want to put pressure on the squad. When the moment
comes we will secure it."
Guardiola a good choice
On Pep Guardiola's performance as coach, the vice-president
said: "He knows how to keep everyone happy and to enjoy the way of playing. Appointing him was not
a risk at all because we knew very well that this was a man that was capable of doing what he has
done. But we are all very proud of him."
"We learned from our mistakes"
Just under a year ago, Barcelona were beaten in the Bernabéu and now they have been back and
recorded an incredible win. "That was a hard day and we learned from the mistakes," Yuste
explained. "Now we have to look forward and try to maintain this plan because everyone is excited
by it."
Optimistic for Europe
With the semi-final against Chelsea approaching, Yuste looked ahead to the second leg at
Stamford Bridge. "I think that we play like we know we can and we maintain our form then things can
go very well at Chelsea," he added.
