Samuel Eto'o has put the three trophies that FC Barcelona can win as a team ahead of any individual awards that he could pick up this term as he is in line to the top flight's top scorer.
The Cameroonian international is keen for the Blaugrana to start winning silverware and make the
current season successful after it has already been very impressive. "We cannot think beyond the
next game that we have," he explained, looking ahead to the game against Villarreal. "We are
playing for more than them and although we know that they lost to Sevilla, we can only focus on
playing the game our way."
Trophies before individual prizes
Insisting throughout the press conference, Eto'o reiterated that it did
not matter to him who scored the goals fort the team as long as the team kept wining. "I would sign
up now to win all our remaining games and have Carles Puyol or Víctor Valdés score all the goals."
Asked about the position that he played against Real Madrid when he was employed out wide
quite often, the striker said that he was more than happy to do whatever the coach asked him to do.
"I knew that in Madrid I had to do the job that the trainer wanted me to and I am willing to play
wherever where I am needed. If that is in the middle or out wide I will do it if it is good of the
team," he added. On the matter of winning the Pichichi award by adding to his 27 league goals,
Eto'o was clear. "It is true that I do think about it a little, but I have already reached the
target that I set myself at the start of the season," he said. "I will do everything I can to win
that, but what is more important is trophies for the team and then I we should think about the
Zamora for the keeper or the Pichichi."
Compliments for the boss
On Pep Guardola and his work, Eto'o continued: "He is one of the key
reasons why we are doing what we are doing this season," he explained. "He works with a large group
of professionals and he has studied us all and it makes everything easier. He is a coach that does
not find time to sleep much as he tries to prepare the details ahead of every game. Since the start
we have believed in him and he is our boss and has drawn up the guidelines, so now we are obtaining
the results that we are and that everyone dreamed of."

Team-mates
Samuel Eto'o spoke about a few of his team-mates and the season that they have had.
Andrés Iniesta: I think that he deserved to score the goal that took us into the final of the
Champions League. Andrés is the best along with Xavi, Leo and Víctor, as I have always said.
Iniesta deserved it for those people that said that he could not score goals. When he scored I did
not know what to do, whether to take my top off and run to the fans or what."
