Barça to appeal against Abidal red card

Barça is to appeal to the Disciplinary Committee against the red card shown to Abidal against Villarreal which, if upheld, means he will miss this Wednesday’s Cup Final against Bilbao at Mestalla.

In the 77th minute the referee awarded a penalty to Villarreal and gave Éric Abidal his marching orders with a straight red. That means the Frenchman has to sit out the Cup Final on Wednesday.

As a result this Monday Barcelona will appeal to the Disciplinary Committee against the red card so that Abidal will be available for the game.

The Disciplinary Committee is set to sit this Tuesday.
