"We will be looking to win against Osasuna
David Puig
Josep Guardiola will again rest some first team players against Osasuna, but will go into the match on Saturday and has talked about the possibility of Seydou Keita playing at left-back in the Champions League final against Manchester United.
Although the Champions League final in Rome will be just four days away, Guardiola and his players
are taking the visit of Osasuna very seriously and the trainer insisted that his team will going
out to win like always. "We will be looking for victory," he explained. "Everyone will be calm and
no team that is in or around the bottom three will have nothing to be blame us for. Against
Mallorca we played well despite losing. It is certain that I will rest some players and many of
those that appear on Saturday will also have a chance to play against Manchester United on
Wednesday."
Fans welcome
Guardiola has expressed his desire for the Camp Nou to be
full at the weekend in order to celebrate the team's achievement of winning the domestic double.
"We would really like it if all the fans that can come do so in order to cheer us on," he
continued. "I am sure that they will see a good game because I want my players to go out and play
well and to beat Osasuna."
A chance for the youngsters
Against Real Mallorca, the Barça trainer named young starlets
such as Oier and Xavi Torres in the starting team while Thiago and Jeffren were used as substitutes
and he could be set to give Marc Muniesa a chance at the weekend. "Despite the fact that I know
most of these players from last season, it is god to give them the step up to see how they cope at
first team level against first division teams. Just look at what happened wit Sergi Busquets. Marc
Muniesa? He is a young player who everyone speaks very highly of. He is a left-sided central
defender that has come back from a serious injury and done well and is someone we have to nurture."
Keita’s position
The Champions League final also took up a large part of the
press conference with Guardiola asked about which player he is considering putting in at left-back.
"I have mentioned that Seydou Keita could play there against Manchester United and when I talked to
him about things he told me that he would play in whatever position he was required to help the
team, but he did ask me to consider how risky it could be considering that he has never played
there before," the trainer continued. "That has helped me and now I will have four days to decide
what I will do. In the time I have had in football I have known few players that are as generous as
Keita. Besides, he is the player that has evolved tactically the most this season in the squad."
