Forecasts from the heroes of Wembley
www.fcbarcelona.cat
They will go down in history as the first team to win the European Cup for Barça. The heroes of 20 May 1992, the “Dream Team”, have given their forecasts for this Wednesday’s final.
They know all about winning the European Cup, and though that may have been 17 years ago it’s
still fresh in the mind. The players who won the trophy at Wembley in 1992 look ahead to the game
at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Wednesday.
JUAN CARLOS
“All finals are evenly balanced and this one even more so as they
are two of the best teams in Europe. Barça will have to impose their style of controlling the ball
to overcome the speed of the English side.”
GUILLERMO AMOR
“I don’t think there’s a clear favourite, but I reckon Barça’s
quality will see them through.”
MIQUEL ÀNGEL NADAL
“The key to the game is Barça’s defence which will have to be on its toes because
United are really quick on the break.”
JOSE MARI BAKERO
“You can’t really talk about favourites for a single game. Barça are going into
the game in good form and after having won the Cup and the League.”
ANDONI ZUBIZARRETA
“I don’t know who the favourite is but I do know it’ll be the best
game of the year because the two best teams in Europe are going head-to-head.”
ALBERT FERRER
“I’ll always be proud of having won the European Cup at Wembley, a legendary
ground for me. I hope we’ll have another historic night in Rome as we did in London and
Paris.”
EUSEBIO SACRISTÁN
“Barça have been fabulous this season and I think they’re in great form going
into the final. I hope they win a third European Cup.”
RONALD KOEMAN
“I hope Barça win the treble because if there’s a team in
Europe that deserves the Champions League, that team is Barça.”
HRISTO STOICHKOV
“I’m convinced we’ll win the Champions League in Rome like we did at
Wembley. That was the best day of my career.”
JULIO SALINAS
“The British bookies make Manchester United the favourites, but I hope that in spite of
the missing defenders Barça will play well and get the treble.”
RICARDO SERNA
“Wembley saw the first European Cup for Barça and Rome is the chance to add to the
club’s history. It marks the success of a project that was started up many years ago: having
fun and enjoying your job and respecting your opponents.”
CRISTÓBAL
“The Wembley final was just fantastic. I wish the team all the best for Rome and hope
that they can make it another unforgettable night.”
