Alves: “It’s still hard to believe”

The season’s over and now its time to look back at what’s happened over the campaign. Dani Alves is still finding it difficult to take on board such a spectacular year in the first team. “It’s still hard to believe,” says the full-back.

When Dani Alves appeared at a press conference on 2 July 2008 on the day of his presentation as a new Barça player, it’s pretty sure he couldn’t have imagined the season that lay ahead. At the time he said he was “ambitious” and hoped to win the two titles, the League and the Champions League, he hadn’t picked up at that time.

Taking in the treble

That’s what he wanted and that’s what he’s got. The campaign is over and Josep Guardiola’s team has won an historic treble. Even though it’s now a few days since the third title, the Champions League, was won in Rome, speaking exclusively to Barça TV and www.fcbarcelonal.cat Dani Alves says that “the players are still finding it hard to take in what we’ve done this season”.

Reward for job well done

Dani Alves thinks it’s difficult to find the right words to describe Barça’s 2008/09 season. “However, everything we’ve achieved is the result of a job well done, staying strong and believing in what we’re doing,” he argues. “I’m a real believer in doing things well and what we’ve done is really spectacular.”

Same ambition

“Both players and fans should be really happy because repeating times like these won’t be easy,” he said. “We’ve just got to keep doing things right because that way we can win more silverware. I hope we keep our ambition and desire to win. We’ve got to be ambitious because the best thing in football is winning titles.”
