An unforgettable year for Pinto
Marc Guillén / Jordi Clos
José Manuel Pinto found it hard to describe his emotions after helping FC Barcelona to an historic treble-winning season. "I am delighted," was more than enough though to indicate just how much it meant to him.
The Blaugrana became the first club to win the Champions League, domestic title and Copa del Rey in
one campaign and the former Celta Vigo goalkeeper believes that it has still not all sunk in yet.
"I do not know if I can find the words," he explained. "It has been marvellous, complete, historic
... I could use so many adjectives because it has been a great year."
Good memories
Pinto played in every round of the Copa del Rey
and in the last few games of the league to help the team to win both trophies. The custodian's
saves to help the team in the semi final of the cup against Mallorca, with the penalty stop in
particular, living long in the memory of all fans and players.
"I do not have one particular image in my mind because there have been so many good
memories," Pinto continued.
A great spirit
Apart from his qualities between the sticks, the
Andalucian keeper believes that the spirit and atmosphere among the players was one of the key
reasons why the team enjoyed so much success. "I am happy with what I could give throughout the
year and the truth is I am proud and feel privileged to be part of this squad with so many
wonderful team-mates."
