The Malian midfielder feels Barça’s season was “more than perfect.” In his first year with the club, he said he feels delighted to have played and scored.
He was one of Barça’s five new players in 2008/09. Seydou Keita arrived from Sevilla, where
he was already famed for his tough physique and powerful left foot. He has confirmed that at the
Camp Nou, where the first Malian player in club history has played an important part in Pep
Guardiola’s rotation policy, and was an ever present in the cup.
Happy with a perfect season
“The season has been more than perfect. We won three
tiles, we won everything and what a way to do it”, said Keita. “I am very happy to have
come to FC Barcelona, to play and to win. I couldn’t ask for more.”
Games and goals
The midfielder has been one of the most widely used players
across all three major competitions. Despite being sidelined through injury early in the season,
Seydou Keita appeared in 29 of the 38 League games, 10 of the 13 in the Champions League and 5 of 9
Cup outings, and has scored six goals.
He is satisfied with the contribution he has made. “I am very pleased with myself,
because I have played and scored. Of course Leo and Samuel have scored more, but that’s not
my main job. I have done my job very well.”
