Dani Alves has begun Brazil’s Confederations Cup campaign with a 4-3 win over Egypt in a
tense finish. The Barça player was on the pitch for all ninety minutes at right back and was active
throughout the game.
Lively start
Brazil were the better side in the first half. In the 5th minute an assist from Alves let in
Kaka to make it 1-0. Egypt then came storming back to equalise with a Zidan header in the 8th
minute, before Luis Fabiano restored Brazil’s lead three minutes later.
Dani Alves almost made it three with a free kick in the 36th minute, before Juan drove home
from the subsequent corner.
Unexpected change
Everything seemed to be going Brazil’s way until the 54th minute when Shaky fired home
a piledriver from outside the box. Zidan then rounded off a counterattack with a low shot that beat
Julio César.
The closing stages of the game were very open before Brazil got their winner. Almuhamadi
handled to stop Lucio scoring and Kaka promptly drove home the penalty in stoppage time.
