Messi’s happiest birthday
www.fcbarcelona.cat
This Wednesday is Leo Messi’s 22nd birthday and the young Argentinean is enjoying it by relaxing on a well-deserved holiday after a long and successful season with the triple-winning Barca and his national side.
This year sees Leo Messi celebrating what has to be his most successful year as a player, having
won the triple with Barca and also being named the world’s most media covered player.
Well-deserved holidays

After the end of his season with Barca, Messi
joined up with the Argentine squad for the 2010 World Cup qualifier against Ecuador before staring
a well deserved holiday. Messi will be back with the Barca squad ahead of their friendlies in
London on July 20th.
From promise to fruition

Although he’s still only 22, Messi is one of the
squad’s most experienced players having made his debut with the first team as a 17-year-old
in the derby game against Espanyol in Montjuic on 16th October 2004. Since then, he has enjoyed a
meteoric rise to fame, winning three league titles, two Champions and a Spanish Cup, as well as
figuring in the final of the last two editions of the FIFA Player of the Year Awards. At 22, Messi
has surely passed from being a great promise to being hailed as one of the greats of the game.
