The youngest and the oldest
Marc Guillén
The pre-season begins for FC Barcelona this Monday, with some stark contrasts in the squad. For example, Bojan is half the age of his team-mate Sylvinho.
Bojan Krkic is 17 years old, whilst Sylvinho is 34. The Catalan begins his second year in the first
team squad, whereas Sylvinho will start his 15th season in top level football. When Sylvinho
started out in Corinthians, Bojan was just 4. This is just one of the various contrasts between
youth and experience in the first team squad this coming season.
A teenager in the first team
Bojan Krkic’s career is full of records due to his
precocious talent. After making his debut in a friendly in Egypt at the age of 16 in June 2007, he
became part of the first team squad last season. He played in a total of 48 games, more than half
of which he came on as a substitute, and he scored 12 goals.
The squad veteran
With Thuram’s transfer, Sylvinho has now
become the oldest FC Barcelona first-team member. The left winger will start his 15th season in top
level football, his fifth for Barça. He previously played for Corinthians, Arsenal and Celta de
Vigo.
