Sylvinho adapting easily to Guardiola
Marc Guillen/David Puig
Sylvinho gave the first press conference in Saint Andrews. The Brazilian is having no trouble with his first days under the new leadership of Josep Guardiola.
Speaking shortly before the first training session in Scotland, Sylvinho seemed more than happy
with the work and methods of new Barcelona manager Guardiola: “The work is very good. We are
happy although we are working hard. He is putting a lot of effort into it and we are gradually
clearing up tactical issues. The team is learning well”.
Importance of a good preseason
As the full back pointed out, the important thing about the
preseason is getting into the right condition ahead of the games that count towards prizes.
“It’s true that we won’t be travelling so many kilometres this year, but I
don’t think that’s decisive. In the last four years we travelled to Asia and America
and sometimes we played for titles and sometimes we didn’t. The important thing is to have a
good preseason and the less kilometres we have to cover, the better for everybody”.
Last season’s frustrations
Sylvinho admitted that last season was not the best and that
there are plenty of mistakes that need to be corrected if this season is going to bring the success
the club needs: “We ended a bit frustrated because it was a disappointing season. We
didn’t expect to finish so many points behind the leaders although in the Champions League we
did well until the last game. That’s why we want to work hard and improve things a lot this
season so we can win titles.
Best wishes for Ronaldinho
Sylvinho also had some caring words for Ronaldinho and wished him all the best in his time at
Milan “That’s life. He’s not a Barça player any more. He is a fantastic
footballer but he has to go on his way and so does Barça. It has been a pleasure to play with him
for four years and to enjoy his enormous talent. I wish him all the luck in the world”.
