Henry just wants to score

French striker Thierry Henry told a press conference in Scotland that his sole intention this year is to score goals, and he is happy with the way things have gone so far.
“It’s normal” said the former Arsenal man, “that we are a bit tired after
the holiday … last preseason I wasn’t able to train at the same rate as my colleagues,
but this year I can, and I’m happy about that”.
His position
Going into his second season as a Barça player, Henry said “the centre forward position
is the one I like best, but I can also play on the left side of attack. That’s down to the
boss … Last season I had to help defend, but this year I am only thinking about scoring
goals. That is and will be my objective”.
Possible signings
Although there is talk of another centre forward being signed, Henry
does not feel undervalued. “The same thing happened at Arsenal” he commented.
“I’m not worried. Last year I didn’t play that well, but I still scored 19 goals.
If injuries are kind to me, I hope to do better this time”.
Guardiola’s plans
Asked about Guardiola and the new approach to training, Henry said “I am not surprised.
Fitness and resistance are the same, but we will be working more on tactical movements”.
Messi, Eto'o and Ronaldinho
Three names have been spoken about all summer, and Thierry Henry gave his comments. On the
Argentinian, he said “we need all the players for the qualifier. I think Messi is fine.
He’s joking away as usual, and happy to be here”.
As for Samuel Eto'o, Henry said “I would do everything I could for the team. I
don’t know what his situation is or what he would do”, while on Ronaldinho, the French
star said “we are all starting from scratch, the boss and the team. Ronnie has been an
incredible player at Barça and I wish him a lot of luck, because I am really keen to see the best
of Ronaldinho again, who will always be one of the best players in Barça history.”
