In an open letter printed on his new club AC Milan’s website, Ronaldinho has shown his gratitude for all the affection he received at FC Barcelona, where his life went through "an exceptional stage ".
In the first paragraph of the letter, the player says: "First, I would like to thank the Barça
fans. I always felt they cared. I was very happy in Barcelona because the people transmit such
excellent sensations. I felt I was accompanied all the way and that gave me strength at all times.
I enjoyed playing football at Barça and I enjoyed helping all the fans to enjoy themselves. I felt
close to the people at FC Barcelona who always showed me their affection. I just hope one day I
will be able to properly say good bye to the Camp Nou."
Sharing emotions
He goes on to say that: "I am leaving a great club, but
always with the sorrow you feel for leaving a place where you have felt happy, where we have shared
triumphs, but most of all, emotions. We Brazilians also play football to make other people happy.
That was one of my objectives and I can feel satisfied for having achieved it."
Words of thanks
Later the Brazilian star comments on his concept of football being a form of personal and
collective satisfaction, and also thanks his team mates for all the support they gave him in his
five years with the club, as well as all of the coaching and auxiliary staff.
Ronaldinho concludes with the words: "I will remember the best moments of an exceptional
stage of my life. They were many, many of them. I was happy in Barcelona and with Barcelona. Such
affection will always have a place in my heart."
