Henrique goes from Barça to Bayer Leverkusen
Berta Brau
Henrique is now officially an FC Barcelona player after he put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract at Camp Nou and will now travel to Germany on Wednesday afternoon to join Bayer Leverkusen on loan.
At midday, the Brazilian central defender entered the Blaugrana's offices and penned his deal to
join the Catalan outfit in a deal that will keep him at the club until 2013. His first year in
Europe though, will be spent on loan in the Bundesliga. Despite the quick transfer out of the club
once again, president Joan Laporta expressed his happiness with the arrival of the player.
Arrival in Barcelona
Henrique landed in the Ciutat Contal on Tuesday and went straight to the Hospital de
Barcelona where he underwent the first part of a medical check-up and was accompanied by Baye
Leverkusen's doctor, to save him having to do a second set of tests in Germany. The player than
travelled to Camp Nou where he had the second round of exams and was soon given the green light
having passed all the tests. On Wednesday, Henrique quickly returned to the medical rooms to
finalise some details.
Xavi, Puyol and Iniesta
During the check-up on Wednesday, Henrique met Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernández and Andrés
Iniesta, as the trio all reported in for their medical tests before they travel to Scotland to join
up with the first team squad for pre-season training.
