Recovery work
Marc Guillén / Jordi Clos
FC Barcelona's squad were back in training the day after recording an emphatic first victory of the pre-season campaign and were put through their paces in the morning and in the afternoon.
The first session after netting six against Hibernian on Thursday evening focussed on recuperation
and was watched by president Joan Laporta, the new director of external relations, Manel Estiarte,
and technical secretary Txiki Begiristain.
Warming down
On Friday morning the squad began the session
with a series of runs without a ball as part of their warm-up. That was followed by six of the
starting team from the Hibs game (Piqué, Márquez, Córcoles, Henry, Gudjohnsen and Pedrito) all
moved to train on their own doing some muscle stretching exercises. Sylvinho also worked on the
sidelines and Éric Abidal remained absent with a knock.
Pep Guardiola oversaw the rest of the players go through the usual ball games and after half
an hour Jeffren, Busquets, Bojan, Cáceres, Messi and Touré all left to do some recovery exercises.
Those that were now left did physical circuits that ended with shots at goal.
Staying on
Training finished with a game with the emphasis on possession between three teams. Puyol,
Xavi, Iniesta, Alves, Oleguer, Crosas, Hleb, Eto'o, Víctor Sánchez and Víctor Vázquez all took part
until the close.
