Welcome to Chicago
David Saura (enviat especial)
After a flight of more than 9 hours, the Barça expedition left behind the Renaissance city and is now in the Mecca of modern architecture, Chicago.
The past and tradition of Florence have given way to a city like Chicago where the skyscrapers,
glass and concrete dominate the skyline. In order to understand this graphically we’ve
changed ‘Il Duomo de Santa Maria dei Fiore’, from the 14th C, for all 442 metres of the
Sears Tower, built in 1973. This architectonic contrast is more than 9 hours flight away, the time
taken by the Barça expedition in setting down at O’Hare International Airport.
Passport control
Having survived the usual North American rigor at passport control on entering the country,
the team settled into The W Hotel Lakeshore, while they overcame the jet lag until the first
training session at Illinois University
They’re back two years later
Two years after their last visit to the U.S.A., Barça again set foot in
an American city. On that occasion, Los Angeles, Houston and New York welcomed the team with open
arms. Now it’s Chicago’s turn, a new city on the American route the club has taken in
the last few years.
Guardiola’s first tour
Manager pep Guardiola faces his first tour at the head of a renewed team, which out with
exhibitions of football needs to get on form to face the Champion’s preliminary with
guarantees. For the moment he is managing this amply.
