Barça’s technical secretary has assured: “If there is a decision, the best solution would be to do so before the preliminary.” Begiristain spoke about the resolution of the Sports Tribunal, the effect it has had on the team and possible signings.
Txiki Begiristain can be found among the Barcelona expedition that is currently on a tour of the
United States. After training in Central Park, the sports director spoke to the media on some of
the current situations at Barcelona. On the future of Eto’o, he said: “The days are
going past and the market closing. If there is a decision, the best solution would be to do so
before the Champions League preliminary.” He added: “We are looking at reactions and
above all watching to see how Pep sees himself with the group and with the player.”
Waiting for the Sports Tribunal
Obviously, another aspect touched in his conversation with the journalists
was the imminent resolution of the Sports Tribunalon the presence of Messi in the preliminary.
“If the Tribunal votes in our favour, we would like, for our fans, that the player be with
the club.” As regards the latest statements from Joseph Blatter, president of the F.I.F.A.,
Txiki pointed out: “We respect the ruling by F.I.F.A., but if the Tribunal says different,
the club will fight for him to be with us”. According to him, “we respect the norms and
the legality and we would ask for the same comprehension.”
Content with the start of the pre-season
On the other hand, the technical secretary opined positively on the teams preparation:
“I’m happy because the attitude is good and the concepts which we saw with Barça
‘B’ can be seen in players of better quality”. That is why Txiki feels
“with the tranquillity of seeing that the second team players are almost doing it
better”, as they have already adapted to the concepts.
