Steve Nash with Barça again
David Saura (special correspondent)
Basketball player Steve Nash, who visited Barça in New York in 2006, once again came along to training in Giants Stadium and greeted his friend Thierry Henry.
Steve Nash, twice chosen MVP in the regular season and who has played in six NBA All Star games,
was as down-to-earth and friendly as two years ago when he posed with Ronaldinho, Van Bommel, Gio
and Eto’o and put on boots to play on the Giants Stadium pitch.
Chat with Guardiola and Henry
This time round, and after watching
training
from the stands, the player went up to Pep Guardiola right after the end of the session. He
spoke with the Barça manager but above all with his friend Thierry Henry. “Thierry is my
buddy. My parents are from London and my team is Spurs. Now Thierry has left Arsenal, we’re
friends again,” said the Phoenix Suns point guard amid laughter.
Henry’s last visit
In fact, Henry and Nash were able to say hello at the end of
June this year when the French striker was in New York, the city where Nash usually spends his
summers. The meeting took place in the Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Manhattan, at a charity game that
brought together basketball players including Steve Nash, Leandro Barbosa, Jason Kidd and Baron
Davis, and footballers such as Henry, Salomon Kalou (Chelsea) and Jozy Altidore (Villareal).
“Barça is an amazing team”
Nash said that Pep Guardiola’s Barça is “an amazing team and I like they way the
play a lot.” He said his favourite players were “Henry, Iniesta, Xavi, Bojan,
Messi…”
