A positive Gerard Piqué who wants to give his best at the top in both training and in friendlies
gave a press conference at midday on Saturday. The Catalan defender thinks that the team is
physically fit and that “we are working hard”. He compared this with the first few days
of the pre-season when the players were notably tired.
A good level
Along these lines, Piqué thinks that in the last few games “the
team played really well” and pointed out that “we played football that people like,
pressuring hard and pushing further up field. This wears out the other team and they lose the ball
quickly”. Piqué finished by summing up the last few days assuring that “the team is
performing well”.
Wisla on Wednesday
Asked about the next rival in the Champions League, Wisla Krakow, Gerard Piqué admitted that
they don’t know much about the Polish team yet but there is still time to study them. All in
all, the Barcelona player is confident that the Camp Nou will be full: “The more the better
for us and we have to get the fans behind the team from the start”.
Even so, the defender is convinced that the tour won’t affect them: “There are
enough days left for the team to get used to the time change”.
Changes in defence
Gerard Piqué admitted, “Barça can’t give away two
goals” as they did in the last two games in the United States. Even so the Barça no. 3
thinks, “the pre-season is the moment to straighten out problems. Now the time is up and the
important work begins. I’m sure the team will sort out the little details that sometimes lose
goals.
