Guardiola happy but cautious

Roger Bogunyà

Pep Guardiola stated that he was a "happy" man after seeing FC Barcelona record a 4-0 victory against Wisla Krakow in the first leg of the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday night, but called for everyone to "remain prudent".

The Blaugrana coach was equally pleased with the team's defensive display as he was with the forwards for their impressive performance. "We have scored goals and created a lot of chances and I am happy that we did not concede any goals as well because in this type of tie that is vital. We know what we have done well and what we have not."

Difficult start

"At the start we had a couple of scares, but Márquez and Puyol have controlled things well," Guardiola continued as he reflected on Wisla's early attempts to cause a surprise.

From then on however, Barça rarely allowed their opponents anywhere near to Víctor Valdés: "They did not make it forward so much because we have gone forward well and were well positioned," he continued.

On the right path

Pleased for Henry

QM3D9674.jpgThierry Henry netted a fine goal as he clipped the ball past the keeper to net Barça's third of the evening and Guardiola was impressed. "I am pleased for him," the coach said. "It has been a difficult year because he came at a complicated time, but he is an extraordinary player and today he played very well."

Blaugrana next time
The Barça team wore the new yellow away shirts on Wednesday evening because Wisla wore red and would have clashed with the home side's first choice shorts. In exchange, in Poland Barça will wear the Blaugrana jerseys while Wisla will don white.
