“I feel a responsibility to help the squad”
Marc Guillén
Sylvinho has the longest playing career in the Barça squad and he is delighted to be able to share his experience of the game and of the Club with his team-mates.
Silvio Mendes Campos is 100% behind the new footballing project and told reporters today that Barça
has “an excellent, balanced squad”.
“Football goes beyond the 90 minutes”
The Brazilian full back is looking forward to his fifth
season with Barça and his fourteenth as a professional footballer. It’s this level of
experience that tells Sylvinho that “football goes beyond the 90 minutes”. So
he’s upbeat about the changes brought in by manager Pep Guardiola: “For matches to go
well, the management of the group, the changing room, the daily work etc are all very
important”.
He would like to use his experience to help the squad: “With the experience I have in
football and in the Club I believe I can help my team-mates. I feel a responsibility to help the
squad”.
“We’ll have the support of the fans”
Sylvinho also referred to the message put across by Guardiola at the presentation of the team
at the Gamper tournament: “As the coach said, we’ll give everything we’ve got in
every match. So I’m sure we’ll have the support of the fans and, with a strong Camp
Nou, we’ll be a much better team”.
