Pep Guardiola split his FC Barcelona squad into two groups on Friday for training with 13 players, including Rafa Márquez, exercising on the pitch in front of La Masia while the rest all worked in the club's gymnasium.
With the first home game of the new season approaching, the
Barça stars are slowly returning from international duty and Guardiola believes that some needed
more specific training than others. Andrés Iniesta, Samuel Eto'o, Seydou Keita, Aliaksandr Hleb,
Thierry Henry and Eidur Gudjohnsen spent the morning in the gym, while the rest all played outside.
Márquez's return to the club was the main news of the session after the Mexican returned having
helped his country to beat Canada in midweek.
Fog stops Cáceres
The only player that has been away on international duty
that is still not back is Uruguayan Martín Cáceres. Fog meant that the plane bringing Cáceres to
Barcelona could not leave and he is now expected to arrive back in the Ciutat Contal on Saturday.
The Uruguayan Football Federation announced that the 12 players that play in Europe would be
returning late.
Lionel Messi flew back into Catalunya on Friday morning and went straight to the ground, but
the Argentinian will not return to training until the afternoon session.
