Puyol, Bojan, Iniesta and Piqué attended the inauguration of the new Nike offices in Barcelona as ambassadors for the brand. Piqué said that the win the Champions League “will do us good for making the jump we needed”.
On Thursday, Nike, one of FC Barcelona’s sponsors, officially opened its new offices in
Barcelona, located in the Parque de Negocios Mas Blau, and the inauguration was attended by four
Barça players in Carles Puyol, Andrés Iniesta, Bojan Krkic and Gerard Piqué, in addition to
president Joan Laporta and vice president Jaume Ferrer. Basketball’s Pau Gasol and Rudy
Fernández, and swimmer Mireia Belmonte were other sportspeople at the event.
“The Champions League win will do us good”
At one point, Gerard Piqué spoke to the media about the importance of
winning their first European group match against Sporting Lisbon: “the win will do us good
because it will help us make the jump back to winning ways, especially ahead of the game with
Sporting at Gijón in El Molinón, and winning in the League like we have to”.
No room for debate
The centre back added that “there should be no debates concerning Bojan’s
situation” as the striker “is working hard every day to win his place and to get more
time on the pitch … it is the boss who has to pick the players that are on form or the most
appropriate for each match”. He also said he feels comfortable with the defensive tactics
being employed as “they allow an extra man to go up and join the attack”.
