Debut for Caceres
Roger Bogunyà
Uruguayan Martin Caceres made his official debut for Barça in Gijon and it proved a dream debut. Barça won 1-6 and the team scored twice in the ten minutes in which the defender was on the pitch.
Minute 82. Play is stopped and the fourth official holds up his electronic board with the number
‘2’ of Martin Caceres, who comes on to replace Sergio Busquets. It’s the
Uruguayan’s official debut as an azulgrana.
10 minutes at centre-half
His involvement was short – 10 minutes – but it
was enough for him to celebrate the two final goals by Messi. The Uruguayan played at the heart of
the defence in partnership with his captain, Carles Puyol. Rafa Marquez, who had been playing in
this position, vacated the spot and moved up to play in the defensive midfield position.
In his ten minutes, Caceres was involved in seven moves and completed seven passes. The South
American can always say that he did nothing wrong on his Barça debut.
