Gaby Milito is in the final stage of his recuperation from injury and explained to Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat how he is feeling and revealed his optimism about rejoining the squad.
The Argentinian central defender can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel after
returning to work in Camp Nou facilities on the last leg of the road back to full fitness having
returned from Buenos Aires. During his time back in Argentina he was looked after by the doctor for
the Albiceleste, Homero de Agostino. Speaking to Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat, Milito explained
how much he is looking forward to playing again. “I am very pleased to be back in Barcelona,
with my team-mates, and to be able to start on the final part of my recovery,” he said.
“As soon as I arrived I spoke to the club doctors and with Doctor Ramón Cugat, who thought I
was doing well.”
No comeback date
Though his comeback is on course, Milito is not prepared to put a date
on when he will start training or playing again. Wanting to take things day-by-day, he is conscious
that there can be no rushing back. “It is not good to set time limits,” he continued.
“Not all injuries are the same. It is important to continue with the recuperation process
little-by-little and, in that sense, I am calm because my progress so far has been good. It is
obvious that I want to play again as soon as possible, but the best thing is that I continue to
work under the supervision of the club’s medics and Doctor Cugat, who operated on me.”
Difficult times
With these types of injuries, like always, the worst moments come in the
first weeks after the operation above all, if like Milito, you have not experienced them before.
“If I had done this before then I think the ups and downs that you have during all this would
have been easier to deal with,” he said. “But I have always known that I have to be
patient and to work hard so that the knee will have good mobility again.”
“The team is on the right path”
Milito has been following Barça’s start to the season closely and has hardly missed a
game, despite his time in Argentina. “I think the team have been very good,” he stated.
“I have always liked to watch the offensive style of Barça, but this year it is even better.
We create a lot of chance although we all know that we can still score even more goals. Despite
that though, this type of thing comes and goes and it is equally important to not concede goals
either. It is important that we do not let other teams have chances against us. The team’s
play and the attitude of my team-mates are great. I think we are definitely on the right
path.”

“It was good to spend some time at home”
Milito underwent the first part of his recuperation in his native Argentina under the supervision
of the national team’s doctors and he enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family.
“The first part of the recovery is always hard and it was very good for me to have done that
in Argentina,” the player explained. “I was able to work hard but also see all my
friends and family. When all is said and done that helped me a lot.”
