Xavi wins Marca award

Xavi Hernàndez has won the award presented by Spanish sports daily ‘Marca' as Best Player at Euro 2008. He was also named best player by UEFA at the end of the tournament.
Xavi Hernàndez’s performance at Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland this summer has been
recognised by ‘Marca'. This Monday the sports daily named him player of the tournament at
Euro 2008 after his contribution to making Spain into European champions for the first time.
Another award
This isn’t the first award for Xavi Hernàndez after winning the European Championship,
as the midfielder was also named best player by UEFA and included in the best XI.
Other prizes
The prize-giving ceremony, which was held in Madrid, also featured awards for goalkeeper Íker
Casillas for fewest goals conceded and Dani Güiza as top goalscorer last season. Manuel Pellegrini
picked up the award for best coach.
‘Marca' also presented awards to other Spain players such as David Villa as top
goalscorer at Euro 2008, and Casillas once again for fewest goals conceded at the Championship.
