Txiki happy with standard at Barça Luján

Txiki Begiristain is back in Barcelona and says he is very happy with the work being done in Argentina at FCB Júniors Luján. “The standard they’ve achieved is very high,” he commented.
“It’s great seeing how we can compete with the junior teams of big clubs,” said
Begiristain. Barça Luján has played both River and Boca Juniors and gave fine performances in both
games.
Just like La Masia
One of the things Txiki Begiristain liked most was the way Barça Luján does
things. “I was pleased to see how the players were trying to do what we do at Barcelona,
playing 4-3-3 and in a way that’s second-nature to us but is new for Argentine
players,” he said.
Good future
Begiristain was cautiously optimistic about the prospect of these players turning out for
Barça’s first team. “I think they’re still very young,” he pointed out.
“The standard’s good and they’re getting in the players and coaching them, so we
can be optimistic. Our job is to train footballers and people.”
“If you had a seriously good player who really stood out then we
might bring him over here,” he continued. “For the moment we just want them to get
better and raise standards further up to where we want them to be.”
