Barça has really gone for goal at the start of this League season, scoring 24 times in its first eight games to give it an average of 3 per match. Only one season has beaten this record in the last 40 years.

The year of Robson and Ronaldo

It was the 1996/97 season when Bobby Robson was in the dugout and Ronaldo scored virtually at will. In its first eight League games the team put away 29 goals, and its 8-0 thrashing of Logroñés — also the eighth game of the season — is a scoreline that has not been seen since.

Eto'o on target

Twelve years later Barça’s line is being led by Samuel Eto'o, and his hat-trick against Almeria puts him at the top of the list of goalscorers with nine. He’s also receiving valuable support from players like Leo Messi (5) and Thierry Henry (3).
