Barça’s opponents in the Cup are old foes of Bojan Krkic, who will once again be playing against Benidorm but this time with the first team.
Bojan Krkic is back in Benidorm after a gap of two years. As a Barça B player under Quique Costas
in the 2006/07 season he played against them twice, scoring a goal. However, that experience also
tells him that Benidorm are a tough nut to crack as Barça B lost both games.
Debut at the Miniestadi and first goal
Bojan Krkic made his debut at the Miniestadi for Barça B against
Benidorm in the Second Division B in the 2006/07 season. He also managed to score a goal to make
the experience even more memorable, even though his side lost. “It was a very special game,
my first in the Miniestadi and a goal that wasn’t worth much as we lost, but it was special
as the first,” he now recalls.
Lost to Benidorm twice
“We lost both games against Benidorm, couldn’t get a single
point off them” he adds. Two years later Bojan is back but this time in the first team and
determined to win the tie.
Getting his own back
Benidorm are standing between Barcelona and a place in the last 16 of the King’s Cup,
and Bojan will have the chance to get his own back. “It’s always special, just like
last year against Alcoyano,” he points out. “We went there with the first team and
that’s when you see the difference compared with going there as Barça B. Then you realise how
far you’ve come, so having the chance to play against them in the King’s Cup for the
first team means a lot to me.”

Benidorm and first team debut
The 3-0 defeat Barça B received at Benidorm in the 2006/07 season had a silver lining for Bojan, as
he was called up after the game by Frank Rijkaard. “It was after that match that I made my
first team debut in Egypt,” he recalls. “And I scored in that game too.”
