Abidal out for two games
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Eric Abidal has undergone a series of tests on the injury to his right knee that he suffered in training and has been told that he has a cyst on his external meniscus and will be out of action for at least the next two matches.
During training on Thursday morning, the French defender told club medics that he felt a pain in
his knee and limped out of the session in order to be examined to see what the problem was and now
the results have revealed what has happened.
Cautious regime
Now Abidal will start on a cautious recovery regime and if after a week there are no signs of
improvement then club medics will consider the possibility of carrying out an artoscopy. The early
indication is that the player will miss at least the next two matches.
Málaga and Basel
Coach Josep Guardiola will not be able to include Abidal in the FC Barcelona squad for the
trip to Málaga, that will take place on Saturday evening at 8pm. The French star will also miss the
Blaugrana’s Champions League encounter at home to Basel at 8.45pm on Tuesday.
