Missing cup players back in squad
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Gudjohnsen and Pedro have both been given medical clearance, but neither have been selected for the game with Malaga. Valdés, Henry, Xavi, Márquez, Iniesta and Messi, who were all left out of the Copa trip to Benidorm, are all back in the squad.
Josep Guardiola has decided that despite being declared fit, neither Gudjohnsen nor Pedro should
travel to Malaga for Saturday’s game at La Rosaleda. Albert Jorquera is also absent. The
players that were omitted from the Copa del Rey game with Benidorm, Valdés, Henry, Márquez, Xavi,
Iniesta and Messi, are all in the sixteen-man squad for the league fixture.
However, with respect to the last league squad, that for the Almería game, the only change is
Sylvinho, who comes in for Abidal, who was injured on Thursday.
Guddy and Pedro fit
After several days training with the first team, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Pedro have received the
medical all-clear. Both players picked up injuries while away on international duty, and have
missed the league games against Athletic Club and Almería, the Champions League trip to Basel, and
the cup clash with Benidorm.
Under the rain
The players trained on Friday at the Camp Nou under heavy rain. All of Josep
Guardiola’s squad was in attendance, apart from the injured Milito and Abidal. Keita, who is
still recovering from his own fitness concerns, trained on the Camp Nou turf, but in isolation from
the rest of his colleagues.
Trip to Malaga
After training, the players had lunch at the Camp Nou. At 17.00 today they will transfer from
the ground to El Prat Airport, where they will be taking an 18.00 charter flight to Malaga. The
plane is due to land in southern Spain at 19.30.
The squad
The players travelling to Malaga are Valdés, Henry, Márquez, Xavi, Piqué, Iniesta, Puyol, Cáceres,
Sylvinho, Bojan, Eto'o, Messi, Hleb, Alves, Touré, Pinto, Sergio Busquets and Víctor Sánchez.
