V. Sánchez: “Starting the game was a good experience”

Víctor Sánchez was delighted to start a Champions League match although he was “upset that the result wasn’t the right one”.
Víctor Sánchez was pleased with the “experience of being in the starting line-up”, even
thought the result may not have been the best. He was also thrilled to have helped seal
qualification for the next round: “it’s what we wanted, but we wanted to do it with a
win. The most important thing is that we still have two games to finish top”.
Both Víctor Sánchez and the other players were distressed about Andrés Iniesta getting
injured and being out for the next six weeks. However, they are confident they can cover for the
loss and that tonight’s game was a warning to everybody.
Sylvinho:
“We knew it would be difficult, but after winning 5-0 away, we didn’t expect
quite so much resistance here today”.
“As we didn’t score early, the game wasn’t very open, and their goals made
life harder for us”.
“The League and Champions League are tough. It’s always important to win but you
can’t win all the time. We have to keep working”.
“We know we are a quality team, and we are working seriously, but it is not normal to
score 4 or 5 goals a game. There are no weak opponents and as the game progressed today we were
finding it more and more difficult”.
Márquez:
“They played well at the back and their counters were awkward. We just have to be happy
with qualification”.
“You also like to win. Drawing, and at home, is worse. But these games are like that.
We did what we could”.
“They were well positioned at the back and it was hard to impose our rhythm. We managed
to scored, but unfortunately they equalised”.
“We have faith in our ability and we’ll be going to London to secure first place
in the group”.
Bojan:
“It was a game we didn’t kill off early on and
in the end, after going ahead, we were unlucky enough to concede a goal and the game ended in a
draw”.
“We are going away angry because even though we qualified, we didn’t win, and
that always leaves you a bit annoyed, but we have to forget this and start thinking about the next
match”.
“It is very hard to play against these teams that close up shop at the back, and
it’s worse still went you find it hard to score the first goal”.
“These games are a wake-up call. We have to realise that any team can take three points
away from you”.
Puyol:
“That’s football, and we know we aren’t
always going to win by loads of goals, because every game is a challenge. We were up for it, but
it’s hard to impose our game against such defensive sides”.
“Whenever somebody gets injured, whoever it is, the squad is affected. Andrés is very
important for us and we hope he gets fit soon”.
Piqué:
“We will have to see how things develop. Right now, the Valladolid game is looking
unlikely, but if things do progress well, I’m hoping to play on Saturday”.
“Perhaps it’s put a dampener on the great mood after the winning streak. What
happened today should be taken as a reminder that things are never quite that easy. We have to keep
working, because anything is possible in football”.
“We are professionals and we have to stay one hundred per cent motivated for every game
whether or not there is a big crowd”.
“Andrés is a very important player for the team and we are losing a basic part of our
midfield, but with the players we have, we can move this along. We hope he gets fit soon”.
