Tenth win in a row away from home
www.fcbarcelona.cat
The 0-3 victory away at Seville is Barça’s tenth win on the bounce away from home. That beats previous winning streaks such as eight in the 1927/28 season and seven in 2005/06.
Barça 2008/09 continues to hit new highs. On matchday eleven they set a new record for best ever
start to the League, and now on matchday thirteen they’ve established a new record for wins
away from home in competitive matches. Yesterday’s win at Seville was the tenth of six in the
League, three in the Champions League and one in the Cup.
Starts at El Molinón
The series of wins began at El Molinón, with a
1-6 victory that showed all Barça’s attacking flair. It continued at Montjuïc (1-2) and then
in Donetsk (1-2) in the Champions League. The fourth win came at San Mamés after a break for
international fixtures (0-1). Back in Europe, the team picked up all three points away at Basel
(0-5).
The sixth win came in the Cup away at lowly Benidorm (0-1). Andalucía was the venue for the
next two away wins, at Malaga (1-4) and Huelva (0-2). Last Wednesday in the Champions League
Guardiola’s men set the record by beating Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.
All time record
The ten wins better the figures for the 1927/28 season, when with Romà Forns in the dugout
Barça won eight competitive games away from home in three official competitions. The second best
record was achieved in the wonderful 2005/06 season when Frank Rijkaard’s men won seven times
in a row on the road.
