European leaders in goal difference

Berta Brau

Barça has scored most goals in the League at 40 and conceded the fewest at 9. That goal difference of +31 means the Catalans have the best figure in Europe’s major leagues.

After thirteen League games, Barcelona has scored more goals and conceded fewer than any other side in Spain.

Best goal difference

Pep Guardiola’s men have found the net 40 times in 13 games to average 3 goals a match. Plus they’ve only let in 9, which means Víctor Valdés is now ahead of Palop in the race to be the goalkeeper with the best record. 40 goals for and nine against give Barça a goal difference of +31.

Chelsea come next

After 15 matches in the EPL, Chelsea have 33 goals in favour and 6 against, giving the Londoners a goal difference of +27. Scolari’s men are the closest to matching Barcelona’s record.

40 goals for surprise outfit

Next comes Hoffenheim in Germany. The surprise team of the season in the Bundesliga has also played 15 games and scored on 40 occasions like Barça. However, the Germans have also let in 20 which gives them a goal difference of +20.

Inter Milan and Olympique Lyon

Inter Milan are leading the Italian League with a goal difference of +12 after 14 games; they have 22 in favour and 8 against. Finally in France Olympique Lyon has scored the fewest goals of any major league leader in Europe with just 21, while the 10 they have conceded also put them at the bottom of the league leaders’ goal difference table.
