Vázquez happy with win, sad over loss
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Víctor Vázquez made his first start for the first team in tonight’s Champions League game at the Camp Nou.
The reserve team striker was naturally delighted to have made his official debut but was “sad
and upset by the final result, because it’s never nice to lose”.
“We played well, but we were a bit sloppy at the back and they caught us on the
counter” said Vázquez on the last game before the clásico with Real Madrid, and one which
Víctor Vázquez said “the reserve team will also be following very closely”.
As we shall see below, all of the players were annoyed that the twenty match unbeaten run has
come to an end, but also said it was far more important not to dwell on that but instead to focus
on the forthcoming visit of Real Madrid, in which their place at the top of the table can be
consolidated in style.
Bojan
“There are no excuses. It was still a game and we
should have won it”.
“The circumstances didn’t help, because we’d already secured the top sot.
But we gave a good image and we needn’t worry”.
“The streak had ended, but it was better to end it today rather than next
Saturday”.
“I don’t think the change of manager at Madrid will affect things. I’m not
thinking about anything other than ourselves and getting the three points”.
Sergio Busquets
“My goal was an anecdote. The important thing is for the team to win and that
wasn’t the case today”.
“You never like losing. The team is doing things well, but it’s goals that count
and Shakhtar took their chances better”.
“I don’t care who we meet in the second round. If we want to win the Champions
League we have to beat all the best teams in Europe”.
“I don’t know whether the situation with Madrid will affect them, but the sure
thing is that they’ll be coming here to win”.
“Anybody would be excited about playing in a Barça v Madrid game. It’s a
different game, with a great atmosphere, but I don’t think I’ll be nervous. I’ll
just be ready to help the team if I have to”.
Keita
“It is always tough to lose a game at home, but we should start thinking about our next
game, which is much more important”.
“The game was a bit cold, a bit of everything was missing. We had the ball but we
didn’t know how to finish things off”.
“It doesn’t matter who we play next in the Champions League because every game is
difficult at this stage of the competition”.
“The game against Madrid is very important for the team. Juande Ramos is a very good
manager but we expect to win”.
Sylvinho
“I scored a good goal, but the result was a shame”.
“I’m sorry, especially because the young players looking to make the first team
fought so hard. They all put in a lot of enthusiasm”.
“It is always a pleasure to wear this shirt and it means always going out to do your
best. Now we have to think about the next game and think about winning again”.
“You don’t need any motivation to play against Madrid, the opponent is enough to
that in itself. But anyway, whatever situation they arrive in, they’re always
dangerous”.
Piqué
“We have to take the positive things away from this. Despite the loss we had attitude.
We should also thank the people that did come to the ground”.
“Playing in a Barça v Madrid match is always nice, but at the end of the day they are
just three more points we have to get”.
Jorquera
“I was very happy to play again, but my joy was not
complete”.
“Eight months of injury are a long time. Although I’ve been working for three
months, it is as if you aren’t really back until you’ve played again”.
“There is a very good playing dynamic in the squad and the results and the forthcoming
game against Madrid are added motivation”.
