Preparing for Villarreal

FC Barcelona’s first team enjoyed their penultimate training session before playing Villarreal while Rafa Márquez returned to action as he worked alone in a bid to regain full fitness.

Before the Champions League draw saw Barça paired with Olympique Lyonnais on Friday, the Blaugrana players took to the pitch in the Miniestadi at 11am for the fourth session of the week. The team’s last game before the festive break takes place on Sunday in El Madrigal and the preparations have intensified with the whole squad being present, apart from Gaby Milito.

Personal programme

Like in the three previous training sessions this week, Rafa Márquez completed the first part with the squad and then worked on his own recovery programme. The Mexican defender is suffering from a hamstring strain in his left leg.
